The Result Of Mutations in BOtulinum NEurotoxins

In order to identify potential functional effects of mutations in proteins, we have devised a platform for comprehensive and systematic in silico mutagenesis analyses. We use two structural bioinformatics approaches, SDM and mCSM, to evaluate the impacts of mutations on protein stability and interactions.

This study highlights the advantage of using fast and reliable computational approaches to better understand protein structure and function. The predictions were compiled in a relational database (TROMBONE), accessible via a user-friendly web interface. These will facilitate the engineering of Botulinum for therapeutic use.
